Everything appears tiny with windows 8.

Follow the instructions here, substituting terminal.exe.manifest instead of adobe products.

This issue has returned since installing Tick Data Suite (http://eareview.net/tick-data-suite).  Part of the Tick Data Suite installation is to place a copy of the tds.exe file in the MetaTrader folder where the terminal.exe and therefore the terminal.exe.manifest file is.  I tried putting a tds.exe.manifest file there too and the issue continued.

I emailed support at http://eareview.net/tick-data-suite and there is no know resolution.

Is there something else I can do?

You can change the resolution on your system to a different one.  That part would be under your control panel.

You have to get your desktop out first.  I have vista and it is easy for me.  I had to look it up to see that Windows 8 makes this a lot harder than it has to be.

Changing the resolution doesn't help.  This is explained in detail in the link honest_knave posted, and is what I originally thought this issue was.

Hopefully the issue will resolve with upgrading to Win 10!

Otherwise, does anyone have any other ideas please?
