How do I download many years of data for strategy testing

Hello,

If this topic has been covered, would appreciate if someone would point me to the thread.

 Otherwise, I would like to to do back testing of EA's on the strategy tester using 5m/15m

bars going back 5 years or more.  Could someone please explain how I can get sufficient

data into the tester to do this.

There are lots of threads about data . . .  some examples,  use the search or even better use Gooogle to search this forum . . .

close all chart >close MT4>  go to "history" folder, delete everything.

open MT4 > go to tool > archives, download whatever you need,

Close MT4 > open MT4 > refresh 

 

Thanks for the replies but I need to restate the question more clearly.

 

I am trying to get "5 YEARS" or more of data on the 5/15 minute bars.

 

It seems in MT4 they give you what they have, not what you need.  Probably have to 

go to another source.  Any help appreciated.
