how do I get meta trader to sychronize with ny eastern time zone. I use candle sticks and I would like my daily close to be 5pm.

The chart is drawn according to the Broker's set time zone, you cannot change it.

unless you create your own chart using offline chart
 

Well you have one solutions:

Open an account at a NewYork-Broker which has Broker-Time = NY-Time.

(Most of them run their MT4 servers on GMT, or GMT+2, not local time. I can't immediately think of a US broker who runs their MT4 servers on US time. Similarly, I can't think of an Australian broker who runs their servers on an Australian timezone. Many European brokers run their servers on GMT+2 in order to have daily candles which start at midnight on Monday, not because they are European.)
