Ya, many new features, what's good for? with the truncated trading function of MT5, it's useless, unless you kill MT4, otherwise, majority of traders will stick to MT4, MT5? who cares!
 

Yes, most need a tool link to trade relates, not a tool to replace C+, so more need is a series of components for trade as MatLab for engineers, not to learn programming at C level.

Do not know why Meta develop in such mode? maybe only because you have some excellent programmers to design languages?

 

With MT5, to do backtesting you need to connect to some ports. ie. the engine interface that is running as a service/s, you specify the port number and ensure the services are running.

But when running on WINE, this is not yet debugged. You cannot do backtesting on MT5 when on Linux.

Whereas MT4 is 95% working under WINE - exception is graphical slide bars etc.

If MetaQuotes/MetaTrader spent $2000 getting the WINE developers to fix this bug, then MT5 could be used in a secure environment.
