change global variable from vb?

However, there are more traditional ways of communicating between processes in windows, like pipes, shared memory, or shared files. Rummage around.

hi Guys,
I'd like to build and EA that opens/closes positions based on an app external to mt4 like ms excel. is there a way that I can use VB to change the values in a global variable? Has anyone tried this? I'd appreciate your comments/ideas/suggestions =)
