Need feedback about my own EA/system... - page 2

I was just curious to know: What are the ideal numbers for a system? I mean, what % growth/year, Drawdowns etc. can be good enough? Another thing: What is more important? Maximal Drawdown or Relative Drawdown?

Please share your thoughts :)

Regards,

Sagar.

PS

You cannot be absolute on this - Forex trading is not an exact science...

Much depends on your attitude to risk as what you find acceptable...

I have a co-author in one project who has come from years of stock trading, he finds a Profit Factor of 1.25 to 1.5 quite acceptable - he seems inured to the losses...
I am more risk averse and look for a PF of 2+ (I like 4+ more!)

In any system the numbers have to be in broad balance, e.g. the percentage of wins has to be weighed against the likely number of consecutive losses

If consecutive losses are infrequent, you can accept a lower win %, etc, etc

And the final kicker, you have to be ruthless when you see the general market pattern moving away from your system & you have to stop it, not just hoping it will get better if the equity curve is going over a cliff...
