Rosh 2009.11.19 16:42

We've launched the beta version of the MQL5.community website devoted to the new MQL5 language from MetaQuotes Software Corp. We've always tried to take into account all suggestions and comments of our forum members, and most of your suggestions will be implemented on this new website.

The new MQL5 Forum is divided into categories for discussing various topics. Further new categories may appear, while the whole forum will become better and better as new features are added.

We tried to preserve the convenient structure of the website. Thus the first section is Documentation that contains the up-to-date official information on the MQL5 language. If you don't need a local version of the MQL5 Help, you can always refer to it online. MQL5 continues developing, that's why the official documentation will be extended and improved. We will appreciate your reports on errors detected when testing the new resource.

Another planned section of the website is the MQL5 Book, which will be filled after the completion of the book by Sergey Kovalyov, who is also the author of MQL4 Book.

The traditional section of Code Base intended for publishing source codes in MQL5 is under development now. As soon as it is ready, it will be opened to offer you new features. We hope the MQL5 code base will be as popular as that of MQL4 programs.

The important part of this new resource is the Articles section. The first articles have been published already. We invite all authors who want to share their secrets of writing programs in MQL5 for the MetaTrader 5 terminal. Publish your articles on this new resource and get your author's fee of $200 and more! Articles for publishing should be interesting to those who are connected with the automation of trading in world financial markets.

Many of planned things are not yet reflected on the website for its beta testing period. New sections (5 more sections) and services will be added to the website to offer absolutely new possibilities both to traders and investors.

We invite you to actively communicate on the new resource and test all its new features!

Hi Rosh,

I’m glad to hear that things are progressing. I’m at the point where it is finally time for me to start doing some MQL programming. Starting on V4 or v5 is a big question for me now though. It’s going to take me some time to get up to speed either way and I don’t want to just get up to speed in v4 and then have to start climbing the learning curve of v5 once I have just gotten v4 sorted out; but I don’t want to have v5 ready to test and then use before there are any brokers supporting it. I’d appreciate you candid feedback and advice on this. It it’s v5, then where can I get the needed information to begin it?

The other request I have is to please make very sure that there is a ‘search capability’ in the MQL5 book!!!

Regards,

Doug

Dear Dog,

try this: right-click --> properties --> settings

Screen resolution: 800x600 --> OK

No offense, just tryin to help. Good trades...

I’m most defiantly am NOT going to reduce my desktop to 800 x 600! It’s just a different font that is legible to me and is of no significant consequence. Adjusting the font to the largest size in my web browser has no affect whatsoever. If this is the biggest worry that you have in your life, then you have a blessed life. Get over it and move on.

What is so useful in this MT5 ? It's backward incompatible, FIFO foreced and hedging disabled platform. This MT5 is not designed for the traders.

Start with MQL5, why would you want to learn something that will be obsolete once you are good at it?

I though this is a popular trading platform, but couldn't find metaquotes, metatrader4, metatrader5, mql4, mql5 on Wikipedia, though mention other trading platforms. See it here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_analysis_software and on Wiki's search.
